    Essential Job Duties

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide general office managerial tasks and ensure a welcoming and professional front desk experience.
    • Communicate effectively via email, phone, and in-person with faculty and families.
    • Maintain organized records for students and staff; manage filing systems.
    • Enter daily attendance records.
    • Manage school supply inventory and handle ordering and purchasing needs.
    • Support newsletter creation, Friday update and school communications.
    • Assist with enrollment and admissions-related tasks.
    • Maintain and update contact information databases.
    • Support outreach and marketing efforts, including materials production and social media.
    • Provide before school care for students who need to be dropped off early
    • Care for students who come into the office.
    • Handle mail retrieval, timekeeping submissions, and onboarding of new hires.
    • Keep the office space clean, orderly, and functional.
    • Perform additional duties as needed (substitution, recess duties, etc.)
       

      Employment Details

      • Schedule: Monday - Friday
      • Hours: 35 - 40 hours / week; 7:30am - 3:30pm

      • Teach 45 minute math lessons 3x per week per grade 
      • Assess student proficiency and write reports 2 times per year

      • Collaborate and communicate with lead class teachers and parents

      • Teaching days: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays

      • Classes meet twice weekly: 
      • Beginning Orchestra (4th Grade) 
      • Intermediate Orchestra (5th/6th Grade)

      Responsibilities 

      • Plan and lead engaging, developmentally appropriate rehearsals for three orchestral levels 
      • Build foundational string technique, ensemble skills, and musicality across all grades
      • Select repertoire aligned with students’ abilities and the Waldorf approach to music education 
      • Foster a positive, inclusive, and disciplined rehearsal environment 
      • Prepare students for performances and school events as needed (3 main performances per year) 
      • Communicate effectively with faculty and parents regarding student progress and program needs 
      • Support and sustain a strong culture of enthusiasm and commitment within the orchestra
      • Write progress reports for each student, 3 times per year (Nov., March, June)

      Additional Opportunity 

      • Use of school facilities on Thursdays after school to offer private lessons (optional, independently arranged)

      Position: Strings Orchestra Director
