      Our annual "heave-ho" event, where we all put on our work gloves, our cleaning attire, and lather up the elbow grease. Let's support the magical efforts of the guardian gnomes and fairies, who tend so well and offer protection to our students, our space, and our school. This is a day of work for adults only, please, to keep our students safe. 
       
      Calling on all of our.... builders, fixers, makers, creators, painters, cleaners, organizers, sweepers, beauty-bringers, gardeners, cheerleaders, dusters, supporters, polishers, and dazzlers -- 
       
      What to bring, if you have it:
      • cleaning supplies (buckets, tubs) & rags
      • garden gloves & sheers
      • wheel barrows
      • tall ladders
      • dollies, handtrucks 
      • shovels, hard rakes
      • sanders, drills, etc.... with big power cords
      • anything in your "portable / traveling shop" -- saws, etc....
      • We are hoping someone can bring a power washer....!! (Let us know if you have one.)
      • anything you think we might need that isn't listed above

      We'll have fresh coffee, tea, and good nibbles ready for you, to butter you up and get you going. And a lunch buffet, for those dedicated souls!
        
      We'll gather together shortly after 9:00, on the blacktop by room 13, to connect all of our hearts, will, and intentions toward a joyful & productive Work Day together. {Our helpers that identify as "skilled" (or "semi-skilled") labor will be peeled off and assigned to specific projects.}

      The EC Orientation is lead by the early childhood lead teacher to share very important information about the school year ahead. Parents will have the opportunity to meet all the Early Childhood teachers. This is always a lovely evening that parents have left saying they felt equipped with information and connection with parents and teachers alike.       On this first day of our school year together, we honor the meaningful journey that our new First Grade class is beginning with a simple ceremony to start the day. The 8th Graders, who are completing their journey this year, are integral to welcoming their fellow students on the path. 

      What to bring: A blanket or a lawn chair for grass seating.

      Volunteer needs: The 8th Grade families and office host this event.

      Note: Adults are invited to stay and enjoy a parent tea, following the ceremony.

      Day of Courage

      Friday September 27th, during the school day

      For our grades students.

      A Seasonal event to honor courage, conviction and bravery as we observe the seasonal change, the strength of the equinox and the shortening of days. On this day, we enjoy a play, which draws upon the mythical monsters and dragons of many traditional tales, who often represent our inner foes, our struggle to find strength to do better, to do right and to overcome hard things. It is this spirit of finding your heroic voice, your inner strength  the flame of your internal light that is embodied in the sword and in this annual celebration.
